Devotion for October 7

Psalm 17:6 NKJV

I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.

Here David writes a Psalm for the benefit of those who believe in many Gods. In David’s time many people believed in many Gods. Today there are still cultures that believe in multiple Gods but they are few. David states the obvious only you O God hear me. Many people today are searching for answers but are not recognizing that only God has them.

Today’s Gods are things. People are filling holes in their lives with cars, houses, boats, knick-knacks, shoes, and whatever they can afford. Food, drugs, and alcohol serves as temporary fixes for the holes in our souls. Why? Because we are too impatient and disobedient to truly put our lives in God’s hands. We want God but on our terms. Let Go! Let God!

  1. Sorry we couldn’t make it again this Sunday. Neither one of us are clear of the cold.
We do not think it is fair to expose the whole congregations (many are old and apt to get sick) to our contagion. 🙁
We really miss the fellowship and God willing can return this next Sunday.
    Love to all!
    Pat
