Devotion for September 6

Habakkuk 3:17-18 NIV

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

I used to listen to a radio station back home that had a Monday theme. People complained about it being Monday, but one little voiced they played every Monday said, “everyday my eyes open is a good day”. Like most people somedays we have been on the dark side and feel getting up was useless. Well guess what you made it and that day wasn’t the end.

Divorce, separation, loneliness, despair, these things too shall pass. What makes it easier is counting our blessings. Start with being glad your eyes opened, wiggle your fingers and toes, go look in the refrigerator and find nourishment. Then thank God for every breath and fight the good fight that lets others know you care.
