Devotion for September 7

Hebrews 13: 1-2

“Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

The writer of Hebrews asks us to do two important things. Love one another. These are our Christian brethren whom we may often quarrel with. Let it go! Do not let the sun set on an angry heart! If you must confront a brother or sister do so in the company of others and make sure you make peace before you leave. An unsettled heart leads to all kinds of anguish.

Second entertain strangers as if they were angels or Jesus. Sometimes this is simple. Sometimes difficult. Listen then to Mother Theresa: People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self centered; forgive them anyway. Simple logic leads us to love one another. Stranger or brother. God has forgiven us innumerable times let us follow his example.
